About My Little Big Life

Thank you for checking out my little, big life!

I’m Marianne, a 20-something trying to figure it all out. My husband (referred to here as A or Bubs), and I live in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

I live a slightly crazy life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. By day, I am a non-profit administrator for a large charity in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. By night, I’m a Brownie leader, part-time student, non-profit board member, and run my own Tupperware business.

I love cats, non-profits, and cheese. I am learning to love running, love myself and always, always find the fun. What an adventure!

  1. Congratulations on completing the Sun Run! Thanks for commenting on my blog so that I could find yours šŸ™‚ I’d love to hear more about your half-marathon training. Are you doing an official program?

Thanks for coming over to check mine out. I’ve been reading your blog since you were a “bee”!

My half-marathon training is in “pre-training” mode right now – just getting good and comfortable with the 7-10K distances, and working on keeping regular runs a priority in my schedule. I also need to learn a heck of a lot more about nutrition because I think I’m going to need to eat for “fuel” more than I do now.

In early July I’ll start running 3-5 days a week and cross-training at least once (probably twice) a week. The plan I’m going to follow is based on something I found online from the Royal Victoria Marathon organizers, tweaked a bit for my own needs. There’s one long run a week (shortest is 9K, longest is 22K), all done with 9:1 intervals. The other 3-4 runs a week are shorter (most under an hour) and some of them are hill or pace sessions.

Basically I’m terrified, but I’m also feeling really excited, and ready to pull on the knowledge of all the great people I’ve met in person or online through running.
